Program
Nancy Kleniewski Classification Talk

Nancy Kleniewski gave her classification talk. She retired July 1 from the presidency of the State University of New York at Oneonta. Nancy described the external and internal roles she played as a college president. Externally, she represented the college to elected officials, donors, alumni, and community groups. Internally, she oversaw strategic planning and budgeting to help set priorities and was the “communicator in chief” making sure all constituencies’ voices were heard. Nancy grew up in Pawtucket, graduated from Emmanuel College in Boston, and earned her doctorate in Sociology at Temple University. She taught at SUNY Geneseo for 15 years, served as Dean at UMass Lowell, and was Provost at Bridgewater State before going to Oneonta. Nancy’s family started spending summers at Sand Hill Cove in 1955, and she inherited the family beach house in 2008. She and her husband, Bill Davis, who is also a retired college administrator, built their retirement home in 2012 on the site of the old beach cottage. They look forward to doing community service in the area and traveling widely.
